Every plate has a story behind it — the farmer who woke up at 4 AM to harvest vegetables, the chef who stayed up late to perfect his recipe, or the photographer that quit their day job to take beautiful food photos. These are the stories that inspire us and the ones we feel go unheard. We’ve created The Art of Plating Rising Talent list to celebrate these stories and the diverse class of exceptional, passionate, and game changing figures in the culinary ecosystem.

This year, The Art of Plating Rising Talent will honor 16 individuals in United States & Canada through a rigorous multi-phase process. Candidates are nominated by our invitation-only community of actively engaged industry insiders – a comprised cross section of more than 150 professionals and tastemakers in U.S. & Canada. Candidates must show exceptional talent in their discipline and be under 35 years of age or have worked in their field for less than five years.

Semi-finalists will first be selected based on the nominations submitted. Final Honorees are hand chosen by our Committee, a group of iconic industry leaders which include our editor-in-chief Maria Nguyen, chef Dominique Crenn, chef Daniel Humm, hotelier Brian De Lowe, and photographer Evan Sung; and will be announced on October 15, 2019.
