Black & White by Signe Birck

Signe Birck

In a recent exhibit for FoodPhoto Festival held in Vejle, Denmark, photographer Signe Birck created a series of food photos to reflect her lifetime relationship with the colors black and white. To carry out the project, Birck called on a few of NYC’s best chefs to each create an all-black and an all-white dish to be photographed on a corresponding colored plate and background.

On the project, Birck says, “I’m truly amazed to see how differently each of the chefs approached the task, yet how uniform the result looks as a whole. I’m so pleased to see their style and personality reflected in the plates, and I knew from the beginning that these five geniuses would get it.”
