How would you describe your personal and professional style/aesthetic?
Simple and passionate.
What or whom is your most unusual source of inspiration?
Live Music. I love watching musicians on stage. When the music is good, I like to watch and learn how they collaborate and feed off each other to come up with something that makes me feel good.
Please tell us about your Food, Design, Color project.
I felt like going outside my box and was inspired by an image I saw in a recent Gather Journal article. It reminded me how much I love shapes, lines, and the overall design of a photograph. I love placing things down on a surface and making some kind of symmetry out of it.
3 Instagram accounts you follow religiously?
Richard Koci Hernandez (@koci) was my mentor when I was in school. He’s one of the best street photographers you’ll ever see. My neighborhood market and the best market in SF (@biritesf). @tablehopper keeps me in the know.
Any personal tip(s) for taking great photos?
Quality over Quantity. Pay attention to the composition – don’t just be a sucker for the moment, there’s much more going on than the subject matter. If all else fails, use natural daylight.
